Testimonials

“This experience has been a blessing to me. Not only did I learn who I am and my character defects, I learned how to forgive myself and others. I found my God and through him I won’t go wrong. I am going to miss Fellowship House. I will never forget all I learned here. I am now starting my new life with my new self with a positive attitude. Thank you and may God bless each and every person that walks through these doors. God bless you Ben, and thank you.”

“I learned that I do like myself. I also learned a lot about addiction and recovery. I learned that everything you catch a buzz on eventually leads to pain, misery, and trouble. I learned what to expect out of myself during my recovery, like the feelings I will have due to my brain trying to heal itself. The staff here is great, the food wonderful, the beds comfortable, and the knowledge invaluable. I would recommend to anyone who can to at least admit they have a problem and to come stay here for a bit and let these folks help you. They actually want to.”

“Thanks for all the help. I will keep in touch.”

“Since I have been in treatment I have learned who I am, and who I was. I am glad this place allowed me to come and get help. Thank you.”

“The treatment staff is wonderful. They were very accommodating to my needs. I appreciate the opportunity to be able to come back to complete treatment again. I got a lot our the program that will help me get my recovery back on track and helped me to realize more about my relapse process and what I need to be more aware of to stop myself from returning to active addiction. Thank you all so much and God bless.”

“My stay here was very helpful to me and I now know a lot about myself that I did not know or realize that will help me in my life down the line. Thank you very much.”

“This is by far the best source of info regarding addiction and recovery I have ever experienced - very comprehensive! I have been given the tools to work a recovery program that will work. Staff is professional and caring. Can’t say enough good about this facility.”

“While I was in treatment I learned that I am an enabler. That I have a disease and I have to talk to other people. I believe I will be able to stay sober when I leave treatment. The staff was wonderful and very kind.”

“The Fellowship House has wonderful teachers and counselors. They helped me to find myself again and how to deal with my unresolved anger and pain. They are very caring and I have a lot of respect for all of them. Kathy, Ben, Cortney and Wendy are all huge assets to The Fellowship House and I will be forever grateful to all of them. Thank you all so much. I will never forget what you have done for me.”

“I learned how to admit I am an addict and how to handle things in a positive way. I learned the addiction and recovery are harder each time you relapse. My life will be wonderful. I know I will be fine. I love all the staff there – they are really nice and helpful, and they have good advice. I think whoever has trouble coming to treatment will understand better after a couple of days. I would tell them life on the streets using is hell and a recovery home is like heaven in a way because nothing negative will ever come out of treatment.”

“The Life Recovery Bible I received was a life altering experience and tool for me. It directly ties the 12 Step program to God’s Word and makes my beliefs in the program more realistic and easier to understand.”

“This program saved my life. I learned how to react in certain situations in a positive way. Need to stay away from people, places, and things. It is important to have a plan when you depart from The Fellowship House. It is crucial to recovery to set up meetings, sponsors and outpatient therapy. Have a spiritual relationship with your Higher Power to you strength and guidance to life instead of existing in life. Never be self-confident saying I am going to do this. It is the Higher Power that works through you to give you hope, faith, and love. Self-esteem and respect will follow. You have to work on the Steps, this is a day by day, minute by minute, second by second program. Humble yourself if troubled, ask for help, and don’t let pride and fear consume you!!! Psalms 91, Psalms 42”

“That I have to start taking my sobriety more serious and how it affects others, and how selfish addiction is. The people here were caring and so were the staff. It is a nice community. Clean and organized and very good food. Healthy good activities and provided with things to do in the free time. Try treatment, it is a good experience. It will help you find your way to recovery.”

“That if I stay on track and work the program it will work if I work it. Addiction is going to be a life-long struggle. I feel I have the tools and the confidence now to face my disease head on with only a few worries. I liked the staff, the counselors, and the nurses. They were very understanding and polite. I feel I made good positive friends. My group was awesome. I am going to miss them, and I hope the best for them. It will work if you work it. Don’t be afraid to open up because everyone has the same problems. Some things are different, but it is the same disease that can be controlled.”

“I came to The Fellowship House without any reservations, but I was still a little scared. My fears were to put to rest immediately. The staff was very courteous and all the patients welcomed me. My counselor was freaking awesome. He completely understood my needs and was always available to talk. I would recommend this program to anyone. If you are interested in a life changing experience, come to The Fellowship House. It is amazing and I loved every minute of it.”

“I learned how addiction affected my life, and how my body and mind was affected as a result of crack, meth, and pot – my drugs of choice.  I like the small groups. I was able to get a lot of things out about my addiction that I was never able to talk about before, and I understand them, and I have the tools to use in my recovery. I like that my counselor was very understanding and took time to help me. I was able to stay here, and I was helped in situations that I couldn’t help myself in, and the whole place was very clean, and all the staff was helpful and nice – I truly appreciate that.”

“Everyone was really helpful at times.”

“I needed a lot of help. I can now get over this addiction. Just keep it simple.”

“I would like to thank all the members of The Fellowship House staff for working here and giving me a part of there life. I have the utmost respect to all involved. I will be writing that state to let them know how important this place is to help the southern part of Illinois with this crazed epidemic of drug addiction. It has been an honor to have spent this part of my life here and I will return in the future to show my acknowledgement for this facility and how much of a difference you all make in the lives of those suffering from horrible disease. I will live my life thanks to The Fellowship House and my son will have the father that I never did.”

“You guys changed my life. You gave me the tools I needed to fight this disease of addiction I have. I am eternally grateful. My family now knows what addiction is and how to help me treat it from the family program you guys offer. I will definitely be calling and letting you guys know how great I am doing. I will highly recommend The Fellowship House to all active addicts. Thank you again - I love you guys.”

“My treatment at The Fellowship House helped me understand my addiction and it is not curable, but manageable. By recognizing my problem, following the 12 Steps, attending meetings and women’s group, I can live a happy and enjoyable life. Getting back my will to live again. Being able to deal with my problems with solutions other than resorting back to alcohol to forget my issues – the issues are there regardless of whether I drink or not. Trusting and believing in myself and God’s will. Staff members were not judgmental. They tried to listen if we had problems. My counselor (Ben) believed in me and knew how much I wanted my life back. He kept me in check when I was falling back. He made me realize how my life could be if I would just surrender and work the program. All the counselors were amazing. Ben gave me courage and understanding that one day I can succeed. So thank you Fellowship House for the education, trust, willingness to live, and to believe in myself and important I am to my family and to God. I will never forget what each and everyone has done. Ben is awesome! God bless The Fellowship House and one day when I get stronger I will pay it forward!”

“I feel the staff here equipped me to the very best of their abilities, and I am walking out with the knowledge that I need to continue to be successful in my recovery. I especially want to mention some of the nursing staff. They would always go out of their way to help me any way they could. Especially Sarah, Tammy, and Dana. I doubt that I would have made it through here without their support. Thank You!”

“All I can say is I have been to a couple of different rehabs and this one is a head above the rest.  The people who work here actually care about you and your recovery and do everything they can to make you feel welcome – but it is up to you (the addict) to take what they teach you and use it, because all they can do is suggest great ways to stay clean. It is up to you to follow them – and do not get into a rehab relationship.”

“I had a really great experience while at The Fellowship House. They have helped me get my recovery back on track. The staff is incredible and has been very attentive and accommodating to my needs.”

“You can learn more than you think at The Fellowship House about yourself and your recovery. The staff is very helpful and polite and sees to all your needs best as they can. Anyone looking for help from alcohol or drug addiction would be an idiot not to consult with The Fellowship House first.  And, you won’t go hungry either!”

“This is a good program. There is a lot of love here. May God bless everybody here and all who walk through the doors.

“All I can say is the best thing that was very helpful to me was my counselor, the staff and the other clients. I learned plenty about recovery and plan to use it on the outside now. Thank you all for your support!”

“I learned that my addiction is worse than I thought, and it is the same disease that millions of people have. I feel my life will be better in so many different ways. I will be able to be a better uncle, son, and brother. My time here was very good. The people in the community were welcoming when I got here, and the newcomers to treatment were very nice. If you know you have a problem, and are scared to come to a treatment center – don’t be. I was scared at first, but that was gone by the end of the first night.”

“I learned that it is okay to be scared at first. It is only natural to be scared. I learned that it does not hurt a bit to speak out about your feelings – it makes you feel better about yourself and others. I met a lot of very nice people to help you through your recovery and give you a positive outlook on life, teach you respect, your triggers, about your Higher Power, the 12 Steps, and always hope. I feel great about myself because of everyone in The Fellowship House. My shame and guilt are gone. To others I recommend The Fellowship House that needs help. It is a great program that will teach you how to stay sober and give you a positive outlook on life. The group is very willing to help someone, and the staff is very nice and helpful.”

“I have re-learned that if I truly want to stay sober and have a happy life, I have to stay with the program and work it. My feelings about The Fellowship House are very emotional. They believe there are good qualities in me. Now I feel I can contribute to this great world. The incoming people are the next “new hope” and they deserve the same chance I have. Good wishes and God speed to those who want it. I know my program is solely based on me and my desire to start a new path to a brighter future – one day at a time! Staff is wonderful, especially my counselor. She gave me hope. The cooks were very kind and caring. All staff helped me learn the tools I needed to start a new life. I love you all and God speed and keep peace within.”

“My experience was very satisfying. I will definitely come back if I need more help in the future. Staff is excellent – I greatly appreciate them. My counselor was perfect for me and made my recovery progress.”

“I came to realize that not having father around made me want acceptance from older guys, and the time lines of recovery help me understand why I feel the way I do. I think by talking about my problems will help fix them instead of bottling them up. The staff was very kind to me.  Altogether it was one of the best sober experiences I ever had. I would tell anyone who wanted to be serious, that this place has given me a new outlook on life that I have never had before. Thank you.”

“I admit I was scared to seek recovery. When I first arrived at The Fellowship House I was scared of the unknown, but from the minute I walked in the door, I got an unbelievable sense of relief and welcome. The staff were always positive and reassuring to me. They took such good care of me in Detox. I was so sick, but the kindness and excellent care I was shown helped me tremendously. My counselor was understanding, compassionate and wise – which kept me strong. The classes were so informative and exactly what I needed in order to get my life back and stay clean. The Fellowship House staff and patients will always be a part of me. I am grateful to them for changing my life.”

“I feel like this is the best place I could have ever been sent to. I appreciate everything The Fellowship House offered me. Staff was incredible and I recommend to anyone that is going through their sickness to go to The Fellowship House now. This treatment has helped me in a lot of ways.”

“I learned a lot in treatment here at The Fellowship House. It was hard but very well worth it. I learned way more than just about recovery. Staff is wonderful. Food is great. The community is like a big family. I would recommend to anyone who needs treatment to come here. You will leave with all the tools you need to stay sober when you leave. Thanks everybody, and take it one day at a time.”

“Thank you for all the help – I needed it.”

“Everybody can recover, but the question is, “Will you recover?” The Fellowship House provided me with the tools and information necessary to make recovery a reality. I believe now more than ever, that I can and will live a healthy life without the use of drugs and alcohol, thanks to the staff of The Fellowship House. I highly recommend the program to anyone who wants to live a better life.”

“I learned that I did depend on my alcohol and pot more than I realized, and that addiction was a disease and you really need to work a program of recovery. I feel my life improved by learning the Steps and how to work them. The agency is really a helpful place and it does have a good program. The staff is really great and they are so helpful and understanding. The community worries sometimes, but it is tight nit. If I could encourage someone, I would tell them this is a great program, the staff is very understanding and have great personalities. They are serious about their job and the program, but they can cut up and have fun too. It is a great place, and all you need to do is work the program – it helps. Treat the staff with respect, and they give you respect.”

“I learned too much to list about myself, but I think the most important things is that there is hope for me. The entire experience here at The Fellowship House was educating, interesting, and developed my social skills. If someone needs treatment, in my opinion, The Fellowship House would be the very best place to go.”

“I learned a lot about drug addiction and that recovery is a progressive process. I feel I have gained my self respect. I liked everything about The Fellowship House, especially the staff.”

“I really have learned so much. My life is on the right track. I loved the staff, the counselors, the cooks, the patients, and the way the agency is run. Keep doing what you are doing. People can really get help here.”

“I will keep in contact. I would like to become a counselor someday. This program really helped me.”

“This place is great for helping to learn what you need to know about addiction.  The staff is amazing – they help you when you need help.”

“That I need to sit back and realize I have a disease. I learned how to deal with my addictions and what could cause relapse. I feel like my treatment has taught me patience to analyze my problems, to deal with stress, etc. The agency is clean, the food is good, and the program is good. I think people have benefited and could benefit from this program if the want it. There is hope, and a Higher Power.”

“You all were great.”

“I can’t stress enough how staff was so dedicated to my treatment.”
